Thisvintage dorei (clay bell) in the form of a stylized boar is a charming folk craft from Kishima-yama (きしま山), a region known for its rustic, hand-crafted figurines and traditional toys. Boldly painted in vibrant orange with expressive black and red markings, the boar is depicted in a minimalist, rounded shape with striking tusks and a fierce, alert eye — capturing both the strength and spirited energy associated with the wild boar in Japanese culture.

The boar (inoshishi) has long been a symbol of bravery, determination, and protection in Japan. Often associated with warding off evil and misfortune, this small clay bell would have been used as a talisman for good luck and safety, especially for travelers or children.

Finished with a natural straw tie, the figure preserves a nostalgic, handmade quality typical of regional mingei (folk art). When shaken, the bell produces a gentle, earthy chime, echoing the warmth and sincerity of rural Japanese craftsmanship.
