This vintage 双鶴 shikishi features a pair of cranes in flight, created in Nishijin Aya-Nishiki-Ori 西陣綾錦織, a refined Kyoto textile technique known for its elegant woven surfaces and rich decorative depth. Rather than being a paper print, this piece is a woven art reproduction, giving the cranes a beautiful texture and subtle shimmer.
Otohiko Muramatsu 村松乙彦 (1912–1983), a prominent 20th-century Japanese Nihonga painter from Aichi Prefecture. Muramatsu first studied Western-style oil painting at the Taiheiyō Fine Arts School before turning to traditional Japanese painting at the Japan Fine Arts School. He became a disciple of the respected master Kibō Kodama and went on to receive major recognition at national exhibitions such as the Shin-Bunten and Nitten, later becoming a member and councilor of the Nitten organization. His art is known for blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with Western-style depth, bold composition, and vivid color.
