A refined vintage Arita-yaki (有田焼) tea set, made by Seihō (西峰) and decorated in an elegant Nashiji Ran (梨地蘭) design.
The set features a softly speckled, warm ivory-white surface known as nashiji (梨地), literally “pear-skin,” referring to the fine dotted texture reminiscent of the skin of a Japanese pear. Across this understated ground are graceful orchid (蘭 / ran) motifs, painted in muted earthy brown and olive tones with delicate accents of deep cobalt blue. The restrained palette gives the set a particularly calm and sophisticated Shōwa-era aesthetic.
The teapot has a rounded form with a traditional wrapped handle, while the matching cups repeat the orchid decoration and are finished with a fine reddish-orange rim. The combination of the rustic speckled surface and elegant botanical painting creates a pleasing balance between everyday warmth and traditional Japanese refinement.
The set comes with its original signed wooden tomobako (共箱), inscribed 茶器 (“tea ware”) and 西峰作 (“made by Seihō”), making it especially attractive as a complete vintage set.
