TB453 - Hirota Glass Fubuki Sake Set 廣田硝子
An elegant vintage Japanese sake set crafted by Hirota Glass (廣田硝子), a renowned Tokyo-based glassmaker established in 1899, celebrated for its refined glassware and dedication to traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Hirota Glass is particularly celebrated for its ability to combine European glassmaking techniques with traditional Japanese aesthetics, creating a distinctive style known as Wa-glass (和ガラス). Drawing inspiration from historical designs of the Meiji, Taishō, and early Shōwa periods, the company preserves traditional techniques such as hand-blown glass (fuki glass) and Edo Kiriko (江戸切子), the intricate art of Japanese cut glass.
This beautiful Kin-Emaki Mai Fubuki (金絵巻 舞吹雪) collection combines delicate frosted glass with a soft blush-pink gradient, creating a dreamy, almost snow-like appearance. The name Mai Fubuki (舞吹雪), meaning "Dancing Snowstorm," evokes the graceful movement of swirling snowflakes in the winter air.
The set includes two traditional sake flasks (tokkuri 徳利) and five matching sake cups (guinomi ぐい呑み), presented in its original decorative gift box. The gently rounded flasks and softly shaped cups make this a charming example of Japanese glassware, equally appealing for sake enjoyment or display.
Condition: Vintage condition with signs of age and use. The gold-coloured decoration has noticeably faded in several areas due to ageing, giving the pieces a gently weathered appearance. Please refer carefully to the photographs for the condition of the individual pieces.
