Tsuchiyu Kokeshi are a traditional style of kokeshi dolls from Tsuchiyu Onsen in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. They are known for their slender bodies, small heads, and distinctive striped patterns painted in bright colors like red, yellow, and green. A unique feature of Tsuchiyu Kokeshi is the spinning top-shaped head, which often has simple yet expressive facial features. Like other kokeshi, they began as souvenirs for hot spring visitors and are now valued as part of Japan’s folk art heritage.
