Soyamisaki (宗谷岬), or Cape Soya, is the northernmost point of Japan's main islands, located in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. It sits on the edge of the Soya Strait, where the Sea of Japan meets the Sea of Okhotsk, offering sweeping views of the surrounding ocean. The cape is marked by the Northernmost Point Monument, a triangular granite structure symbolizing the North. Tsuko-Tegata is a kind of wooden passport that was used in the Edo Period as an identity card for travelers when passing from region to region. They had been sold a lot in Showa period as mingei type souvenirs all over Japan. It's also a protector for safety and peace for family.
