CB056 - Japanese clay bell ornament Dorei 薬師窯

A vintage dorei clay bell created by Yakushigama (薬師窯), a historic Japanese ceramic workshop with over 1,000 years of tradition, celebrated for its mastery in producing folk figurines and auspicious charms.

The rabbit’s ears are painted in pale pink, with bright red eyes adding a touch of liveliness. Its body is adorned with cheerful red floral motifs and a decorative patch featuring traditional Japanese textile patterns in red, green, and yellow. Gold accents are applied across the figure, symbolizing good fortune.

The rabbit (usagi) holds deep symbolic meaning in Japanese culture. It is a zodiac animal representing peace, progress, fertility, and safety. Rabbits are also associated with the moon in Japanese folklore, where they are said to make rice cakes (mochi). This bell would serve not only as a decorative charm but also as a protective talisman and a bearer of prosperity. Dorei is a traditional handcrafted bell made from clay or ceramic, these bells produce a soft, pleasant sound when shaken.
