CB115 - Dorei Clay Bell from Shinomiya Jinja 四宮神社
CB115 - Dorei Clay Bell from Shinomiya Jinja 四宮神社
A dorei (clay bell) in the shape of a white dragon, a symbolic creature in Japanese mythology, made for Shinomiya Jinja (四宮神社). The dragon’s playful and expressive features are delicately hand-painted, with a shimmering silver mane, bright red inner ears, and stylized eyes that give it a dynamic, auspicious presence.
On its belly, you'll find a traditional plum blossom motif in vivid red and gold, a symbol of resilience and hope in Japanese culture. The back bears a red seal stamp indicating its sacred origin from 四宮神社, a Shinto shrine located in Kyoto, associated with local protection and good fortune. This bell is believed to ward off evil and invite blessings when rung, especially during New Year or shrine festivals.
