This rustic omamori protective charm 御守 comes from Hakuba Happo-One (白馬八方尾根), a famous mountain and ski resort area in the Northern Japanese Alps. The region is known not only for its dramatic alpine scenery but also for traditional folk souvenirs inspired by mountain culture and local beliefs.

The charm features three small handmade dorei (土鈴) clay bells attached to a wooden plaque and suspended by a braided cord. Each bell is individually hand-painted in vivid red with expressive faces and stylized features, giving them a playful and lively appearance. The bells are decorated with straw accents and tied together in a traditional arrangement that emphasizes their handmade folk character. The wooden plaque behind them bears hand-written characters referencing Hakuba and the local mountain area.

Like traditional dorei, the clay bells are hollow with small pellets inside that produce a gentle chime when moved. In Japanese folk belief, the sound of these bells is thought to purify the surroundings, ward off misfortune, and attract good luck. Bells have long been used in charms and shrine amulets because their clear sound is believed to call protective spirits and drive away negative influences.

The use of three bells further enhances the protective symbolism, as multiple bells are often used in mountain charms to strengthen their ability to guard travelers and homes. Such talismans are commonly purchased by visitors to mountain shrines and resort areas as keepsakes or protective amulets.
