This charming vintage Maneki Neko (招き猫) is a traditional Japanese tsuchi ningyō (土人形), or clay folk figurine, reflecting the rustic simplicity and nostalgic appeal of Japanese folk craftsmanship.

Made from moulded clay and decorated with simple painted details, this little lucky cat features a warm earthy-brown finish, bright red ears, round black eyes, and a delicate red mouth. Its raised paw symbolically beckons good fortune, while a small bell hanging from its collar adds a traditional touch. The slightly uneven surface and gentle expression give the figurine a wonderfully primitive, folk-art character.

Tsuchi ningyō are traditional Japanese clay figurines that have been produced in various regions of Japan for centuries. Often shaped using simple moulds and finished with hand-painted decoration, these folk toys and ornaments depict animals, deities, and characters from everyday life. Their unpretentious forms and expressive details reflect the warmth of Japan's regional folk-art traditions.

With its earthy colours, modest proportions, and timeworn appearance, this Maneki Neko has a distinctive rustic charm, making it a lovely collectible for admirers of Japanese folk toys, clay figurines, and traditional lucky charms.

Condition: There is a noticeable broken section at the back of the raised paw, exposing the clay beneath. Please refer carefully to the photographs for the condition and extent of the damage. Sold as a decorative vintage collectible.
