A vintage mini japanese folk craft. Aizu folk craft "Okiagari Koboshi (Okihime)" 『起上り小法師(起き姫)』Papier-mache "Okiagari Koboshi" from Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Also known as Okihime, this is a small papier-mache doll about the size of a thumb.
It is sold at the Ebisu Market during the New Year, and people buy one more than the number of family members, take it home, and pray for the safety of their families by enshrining it on the Shinto altar.
