SHP66 - Original calligraphy of Maizurusan
Original calligraphy work on paper. A hand written poem about Maizurusan, related to the scenery of Mountain and cherry blossoms (Sakura).
This poem is a meditation on longing, memory, and the passage of time. The poet recalls a serene, beautiful landscape, which triggers memories of a loved one—"the beautiful person." The cherry blossoms, the fragrant dust, and the stirring wind all serve as metaphors for the transience of life and beauty. There’s a deep emotional undercurrent of nostalgia, solitude, and perhaps grief.
Maizuruyama also known as Mt. Maizuru or Tendo Park, is a prominent landmark in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. Rising to an elevation of approximately 242 meters, this modest mountain holds significant cultural and historical value for the region.
Each spring, Maizuruyama becomes a vibrant destination as around 2,000 cherry trees, including varieties like Somei Yoshino and Edohigan, burst into bloom. The peak viewing period typically occurs from mid to late April. During this time, the Tendo Sakura Festival is held, featuring the unique Human Shogi (Ningen Shogi) event.
