Vintage item, never used. This set features 5 square ceramic plates crafted in the tradition of Akazu-yaki (赤津焼) one of the historic Mino ware kilns of Aichi, Japan. Akazu-yaki is celebrated for its refined craftsmanship, warm glazes, and subtle crackle textures, all of which are beautifully present in this collection.

Each plate is decorated with a delightful folk-toy motif, depicting plump, cheerful characters in playful poses. These figures fall under the theme “寿人形 (Kotobuki Ningyō)”, meaning “figures of good fortune,” symbolizing happiness, prosperity, and long life. The artwork blends soft hand-painted colors with bold outlines, giving each piece a lively, traditional charm.

On every plate, the artist’s signature Saidō (彩堂) appears along with a red seal mark, affirming the maker’s hand. The set comes with its original wooden storage box, also inscribed, adding authenticity and a touch of tradition.

Ideal for serving small dishes, sweets, appetizers or simply as a decorative collection, this set embodies the warmth of Japanese folk art combined with the elegance of traditional kiln craft. It makes a thoughtful gift, a delightful display piece, or a collectible for lovers of Mino ceramics and cultural motifs.
