Vintage item, never used. This charming set of Arita-yaki (有田焼) kobachi bowls beautifully combines delicate Japanese seasonal aesthetics with the refined craftsmanship for which Arita porcelain has been celebrated since the 17th century.

Each small bowl features softly scalloped petal-like rims inspired by blooming flowers, finished in gentle pastel tones of pink, celadon green, and pale blue. The surfaces are decorated with elegant sakura (桜 / cherry blossom) motifs, symbolizing renewal, fleeting beauty, and the arrival of spring in Japanese culture.

A particularly enchanting detail of this set is the use of the traditional Hotarude (蛍手) technique. In this method, tiny translucent sections are carefully incorporated into the porcelain body, allowing light to softly pass through the design — reminiscent of the gentle glow of fireflies (hotaru) in the evening. This technique requires great precision and has long been admired in fine Japanese porcelain for its subtle beauty and craftsmanship.

Lightweight yet refined, these kobachi bowls are ideal for serving small side dishes, desserts, pickles, or seasonal delicacies. Their soft colors and luminous porcelain create an elegant presentation suitable for both everyday use and special occasions.

A graceful vintage Arita-yaki set that captures the poetic beauty of spring and the quiet sophistication of traditional Japanese porcelain artistry.
