TB295 - Kiyomizu-yaki plate by Tachikichi たち吉
Vintage item, never used. This elegant small plate by Tachikichi (たち吉) beautifully reflects the refined balance between traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern tableware design for which the Kyoto-based company is renowned. Founded in 1752 during the mid-Edo period, Tachikichi has remained one of Japan’s most respected ceramic makers for over 260 years, celebrated for creating pieces that combine timeless craftsmanship with practical everyday beauty.
The plate features a fresh 若草色 (wakakusa-iro, young grass green) glaze paired with delicate white geometric and floral motifs inspired by traditional Japanese patterns. At the center, an embossed flower design softly emerges beneath the glossy glaze, adding subtle texture and elegance. The vivid green border creates a striking contrast against the smooth pale porcelain center, giving the piece a bright and refreshing seasonal character reminiscent of early spring in Kyoto.
Its gently curved shallow form makes it ideal for serving wagashi sweets, small appetizers, sauces, pickles, or delicate side dishes. The compact size and decorative surface also make it suitable as a display piece or accent plate in a Japanese interior.
The original Tachikichi box is included, adding to its vintage charm and collectibility.
