Vintage item, never used. This charming Japanese bowl set is titled Attaka Donburi Oyako (あったかどんぶりおやこ), “Parent-and-child donburi.” The playful name refers to the two matching bowls in different sizes, designed to nest neatly together like a parent and child.
The set is made in the tradition of Mino-yaki (美濃焼), one of Japan’s most important ceramic traditions, originating from the Mino region of present-day Gifu Prefecture. Mino ware is known for its great variety of glazes, decorative styles, and practical forms, and it has long been widely used as everyday Japanese tableware.
Both bowls feature a warm, rustic design with soft green brush-painted stripes, delicate red circular motifs, and fine dark lines over a creamy glazed surface. Their rounded form and substantial shape make them ideal for serving rice bowls, noodles, soups, donburi dishes, or other comforting Japanese meals. The smaller bowl can also be used for side dishes, snacks, or an individual serving.
