SHP49 - Japanese card Chigiri-e shikishi card

A vintage Japanese shikishi artwork card from 2006 with the orignal packaging. Features a beautifully textured chigiri-e (ちぎり絵) collage—an art form that uses torn, hand-dyed paper to create delicate and tactile images. The central subject is an adorable Inu Hariko (犬張子), a traditional Japanese paper-mâché dog, rendered here in layered washi paper with fine details and a gentle, pastel-toned gradient background.

Inu Hariko (Paper Dog) A beloved symbol of protection, loyalty, and safe childbirth, often gifted to children or expecting mothers in Japan. This pup is adorned with a red floral bib and green wave-patterned garment, representing good fortune and health. Made using torn Japanese washi paper, the artwork has a soft, textured look that brings warmth and depth to the character. The gentle, hand-crafted effect is distinct from printed art, emphasizing natural materials and human touch.

Pine Tree (松 – Matsu) The elegantly illustrated pine branch above the dog symbolizes longevity, steadfastness, and good luck, often featured in auspicious or New Year-themed artwork.

The dog is placed within a pentagonal frame shape an ema (votive plaque), set against a gradient pink-to-green background. The gold trim on the shikishi adds a final touch of refinement and festivity.
