Rare Sosaku kokeshi doll by Eiichi 永一 “Little girl with her temari” (手毬) balls are a folk art form and Japanese craft, used in handball games and other such similar games (e.g., hacky sack).
Perfect condition in the original paper box. Super rare form, this is the first kokeshi I had which holding a temari ball. The onion shape of the head highlights the little girl’s round cheeks, delicate brushstrokes depict cute expressions.
Regardless of its shape and color, it perfectly presents the simplicity and life of ancient times.
