Nihonkai Haku 日本海博, meaning Japan Sea Expo, alongside the expo’s theme: “環境の時代の海” (The Sea in the Age of the Environment), highlighting the growing environmental awareness of the time. Below it, a striking green wave motif evokes the ocean, nature, and sustainability.

The reverse side features a charming hand-drawn map of the Hokuriku region, with key sites marked — including Kanazawa, Toyama Bay, Wajima, Tateyama, Shirakawa, and more — along with the official dates of the event: August 18 to October 14, 1973. The red seal and Torii icon mark the central location of the Expo grounds.
