Tribute to the Byakkotai (白虎隊), or “White Tiger Corps,” The Byakkotai were a group of young teenage samurai who served during the Boshin War (1868), a pivotal conflict during Japan's transition from feudal rule to the Meiji era. They are remembered for their loyalty, bravery, and tragic fate, many members famously took their own lives, mistakenly believing their castle had fallen.
Tsuko-Tegata is a kind of wooden passport that was used in the Edo Period as an identity card for travelers when passing from region to region. They had been sold a lot in Showa period as mingei type souvenirs all over Japan. It's also a protector for safety and peace for family.
