Yajiro Kokeshi are a traditional style of kokeshi dolls from the Yajiro area in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. They are known for their tall, slender bodies, wide shoulders, and brightly painted patterns, often featuring stripes, flowers, or ring designs in vivid red, green, and black. A unique feature of Yajiro Kokeshi is their variety of head shapes—some round, others slightly conical—making them stand out among other kokeshi styles. Like most kokeshi, they originated as souvenirs for hot spring visitors and are now treasured as folk art collectibles.
