This is an award winning Sosaku kokeshi by Genji Yamada. Titled 「花ふぶき」means falling flower blossoms; storm of falling flower blossoms.
Genji Yamada is one of the greatest Kokeshi artists. Born in 1937 in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, the birthplace of creative kokeshi, in 1985 he won the “the award of the chief of the Forestry Agency“, one of the most prestigious awards.
