This charming clay bell represents a dragon, crafted in the folk style of Nogomi Ningyō (のごみ人形) tradition, a charming regional folk craft from Saga Prefecture, particularly associated with the Nogomi Shrine area. Fashioned in a stylized, rounded form, the figure exudes a playful and rustic character that reflects the joyful essence of Japanese folk art.

Handmade and hand-painted with vivid colors, the dragon is adorned in white with bold yellow, red, blue, and black accents — symbolizing strength, energy, and auspicious fortune. The rounded shape, stylized features, and simple brushwork give it the signature playful and rustic feel typical of Nogomi folk figures.

As part of the Japanese Eto (干支) zodiac, the dragon (辰年 / Tatsudoshi) is a revered creature symbolizing power, prosperity, and protection. This dorei (土鈴) clay bell produces a soft rattle when shaken, traditionally believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.
