A vintage handcrafted omiyage comes from the serene highlands of Kirigamine (霧ヶ峰) in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, a region known for its scenic beauty, cool climate, and rich cultural heritage. The craft features a miniature pair of waraji (草鞋) traditional Japanese straw sandals, skillfully woven from natural fibers. These woven straw sandals are known as waraji, historically worn by farmers, monks, and travelers in Japan. Waraji are symbolic of hard work, perseverance, and safe travels. Tucked inside the sandals are two charming hand-sewn dolls, each wearing a small hood (one in blue, one in pink) and dressed in traditional-style attire with a red bow, symbolizing protection, good fortune, and companionship.
