This finely crafted Kyō Ningyō 京人形 miniature represents Naginata-hoko 長刀鉾, the most prominent float of the famous Gion Festival 祇園祭 held annually in Kyoto. The piece was made by Kotoya Chūbei 小刀屋忠兵衛, an artisan known for producing detailed Kyoto folk dolls and miniature festival floats that capture the elegance of traditional celebrations.
The miniature carefully recreates the structure of the Naginata-hoko, which leads the grand Yamaboko Junko procession each July during the Gion Festival.
