K05036 - Wooden Yamanaka Daruma Doll set

A set of three Yamanaka Daruma dolls, a regional variation of the traditional Japanese Daruma, originating from Yamanaka Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture. Unlike the typical Daruma with a stern expression, these particular dolls each display unique and expressive facial features:

Left Doll: It has a joyful expression with wide, sparkling eyes and an open, cheerful mouth, evoking a sense of innocence and excitement.

Middle Doll: This central figure has a calm and contented face, with a subtle smile and gently arched eyebrows, embodying serenity and wisdom.

Right Doll: The most intense of the three, this Daruma wears a fierce expression, with furrowed brows and a determined frownsymbolizing perseverance and strength. Daruma dolls represent Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, and are often used as a talisman for goal setting and perseverance. In Yamanaka, these figures may also reflect local artistic sensibilities, blending humor, humanity, and tradition.
