A vintage Omiyage Kokeshi originating from Shinano-Ōmachi (信濃大町) in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, a picturesque mountain town nestled at the foot of the Northern Japanese Alps.
The slender body is particularly striking, incorporating sections of natural birch bark (白樺) that preserve the rustic texture of the original wood. The central section is decorated with flowing Japanese calligraphy and a hand-painted mountain landscape, evoking the poetic atmosphere of Shinano-Ōmachi and its surrounding alpine scenery.
Shinano-Ōmachi (信濃大町) is known as a gateway to the Northern Japanese Alps and the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Surrounded by mountains, forests, and lakes, the region has a long association with nature-inspired souvenirs and wooden folk crafts.
