K25002 - Yajirō by Bunichi Kamata 鎌田文市

Very good condition kokeshi from 1960s. Bunichi Kamata born on August 28, 1900, as the third son of Kamata Usaku, a silk merchant in Shinmachi, Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture. He was a live-in apprentice with no salary. He mainly learned toy and kokeshi doll making. In 1920, after his conscription examination, he worked for about a year at the Sanriku Lumber Factory in Sendai with Sakada Eiri's younger brother Sakada Takashi, turning wood. In 1921 and 1922, he worked as a craftsman under Sato Kannai and Dennai, who were Yajiro's craftsmen.
