Vintage item, never used. A refined Hagi-inspired yunomi by Kisui Murata (村田龜水, 1927–2018), a highly respected master of Kyo-yaki (京焼 / 清水焼) ceramics and Grandmaster (Iemoto) of the Kōfū-Reishiki School of Sencha Tea Ceremony. Celebrated for his elegant sencha teaware, celadon, and white porcelain, Murata's works embody the quiet sophistication of Kyoto craftsmanship while remaining deeply connected to the traditions of Japanese tea culture.

This yunomi is created in the beautiful Gohonde (御本手) style, inspired by the soft, natural aesthetics of Hagi ware. During the kiln firing process, the glaze develops delicate pinkish-orange blushes, known as gohon, which emerge organically across the creamy white surface. These gentle clouds and subtle colour transitions are never intentionally painted, making every piece a one-of-a-kind expression of the firing process.

The cup's softly rounded form fits naturally in the hands, while its understated horizontal throwing lines and warm, harmonious palette evoke the spirit of wabi-sabi—finding beauty in simplicity, imperfection, and the passage of time. The balanced proportions make it especially suited for enjoying sencha, hōjicha, genmaicha, or other Japanese teas, allowing the vessel itself to become part of the tea experience.

A beautiful example of Kisui Murata's artistry, this Gohonde-style yunomi offers the perfect balance between the serene warmth of Hagi-inspired ceramics and the refined elegance of Kyoto craftsmanship.
