Vintage Traditional Japanese Doll Yajiro Kokeshi by Minao Sato.
Special Kokeshi doll in Yajiro style comes from Yajiro village in Shiroishi, Miyagi Prefecture, one of the most popular types among traditional Kokeshi. The beautiful traditional Japanese kokeshi doll, charmingly hand-crafted and hand-painted of a Japanese girl with blossom motifs and a combination of multi-colored horizontal lines of Rokoru Mayo. The doll shows a pile of chrysanthemum flowers framed with red, purple and black Rokoru-Moyo linework, while the doll has a design of circle lines painted on the top of her head. Signature with name of the craftsman on the bottom, Minao Sato (1933-2021). Sato is a Japanese family of artisans who have been making traditional yajiro kokeshi for 95 years.
